Full-time Overnight and On-Call Supervisor Positions
THE IDEAL CANIDATE: is able to respond lovingly in all situations, placing our guest’s needs above their own; is kind and compassionate, yet able to be assertive and firm; is flexible schedule-wise and available for a variety of shifts.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Being a Supervisor in the Men’s Shelter comes with a wide variety of responsibilities. In general, it is overseeing the day-to-day operation of a 101-bed emergency shelter.
Specific duties include*:
- Procedural Tasks: evening check-in and morning wake-ups
- Office Duties: including answering the phone or distributing mail;
- Spiritual Responsibilities: such as counseling guests who are in crisis or offering prayer.
*This list is far from comprehensive, as each day in the Men’s Shelter is unique. Ultimately, we are trying to communicate the love of Christ to our guests in all of our actions, even the mundane ones.
HOURS: Full-Time Overnight shifts are from 7PM – 7AM Rotation of 3 days one week and 4 days the next week. On-Call shifts include Days and Overnight Shifts. Depending on shift availability, hours per week could range between 5 and 30. We are a 24 hour shelter, so there are shifts available at all times of the day.
On-Call Supervisors are utilized when one of the Full-Time Supervisors are off, usually for vacation or sick time. For vacations, we try to make a schedule at least one week in advance. We contact On-Call Supervisors about their availability and schedule accordingly. When a Full-Time Supervisor is sick, On-Call Supervisors are contacted by phone.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required.
