SHOE DISTRIBUTION: 14th Annual Day Without Shoes to Benefit People’s City Mission

Apr 26, 2024 1:00PM—3:00PM

Location

People's City Mission Help Center at 6800 P St., Lincoln NE

LET’S GIVE EVERY STRUGGLING FAMILY IN LINCOLN A PAIR OF SHOES!

Since 2011, Cornhusker Bank and People’s City Mission have partnered to help raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a person’s life by hosting a Day Without Shoes event annually. The public has been encouraged to bring new or used shoes, or cash donations to help put good shoes on the feet of Lincoln’s less fortunate.

During the event this Thursday, Cornhusker Bank will present a check to People’s City Mission, followed by a press conference. Then PCM guests will be able to choose shoes for themselves and their families followed by clients of some of Lincoln’s non-profits, then shoppers from the public. The remainder of the shoes collected will be distributed over the next several weeks to needy families who are served at the Help Center. Please refer to the following schedule for the day:

  • 11:00am  Check presentation and press conference, in the shopping waiting area
  • 11:15am-12:30pm  Shelter Guests will shop for shoes first
  • 12:30-1:00pm local non-profit connection clients will shop for shoes. (Matt Talbot, Lutheran Family Services, and CenterPointe)
  • 1:00-3:00pm Community shoppers shop for shoes (Note for shoppers: this is for SHOES ONLY.)

We are so incredibly thankful for Cornhusker Bank’s dedication to this drive every year. Thousands of folks in Lincoln will be helped because of all of the shoes and money collected this year. Thank you for your kindness to the homeless and impoverished. – Pastor Tom Barber
