OUR MISSION TO
SERVE MEN IN CRISIS
The PCM ‘HIS CENTER’ is dedicated to the needs of homeless men experiencing some form of personal crisis.
We believe that regardless of the crisis, there is hope and opportunity for everyone coming through our doors. As Lincoln’s only homeless shelter, the ‘HIS Center’ provides overnight housing and meals for men, seven days a week. We have a 101-bed bunk room, plus space for cots when weather or other circumstances necessitate.
Emergency Shelter policies vary based on seasonal needs, please contact the ‘HIS Center’ staff with any questions: 402.475.1303
Every guest of the ‘HIS Center’ is provided with a bed (or cot), three meals a day, shower facilities, personal hygiene items and laundry facilities.
For eligible guests from Nebraska, we offer two program options: Short Term Stay (30 days) and ‘The Path’ (90 days). Each guest participating in a program track will be assigned a PCM caseworker to help create individual goals and milestones. Community resource referrals and employment assistance are also provided to help each guest move towards independent living.
- 66% of homeless single adults suffer from alcohol, drug abuse or mental illness
- 25% of the homeless population is employed
- 996 number of men provided for at the men’s’ shelter in 2016
‘HIS Center’ guests and former guests have access to the Agape Café before and after meals. The Agape Café provides shower facilities, laundry facilities, and mail services year-round. During inclement weather, the Agape Café is open during the day to those needing a place of refuge.
One-on-one counseling, Bible studies, and Sunday church services are also available to all guests.
Former Men's Shelter Guest
It’s been two years since I left the Men’s Shelter. I’m now sober, employed and engaged to a wonderful woman. When I left the shelter, Earl gave me a coat that was one of the things that helped me get on my feet. I keep that coat to remind me of how far I’ve come and of the kindness and generosity that was extended to me during my time at the Mission. Thank you! -Former Men’s Shelter Guest

The Men’s Shelter is staffed with full-time and on-call supervisors and caseworkers.
Earl is responsible for the overall administration of the Men’s Homeless Shelter, providing leadership as well as program accountability.
When not at work, his time is spent with his wife and four kids, attending dance practices and performances, football practice and games, miniature golf and watching a good movie every now and then at home. Together they enjoy going to their neighborhood playground, the lake, and a family favorite: Disney World (because he’s still a kid at heart).
“My love for humanity is a great inspiration as I see the Lord situated in all of our hearts and the potential for greatness in all of us. It’s always brought me great satisfaction to help others through this journey to find or understand what our true purpose is (to serve God only) and no matter who or what your story is, the Lord loves you just the way you are.”
Earl’s been greatly influenced by his dad who, he says, taught him to be a hard worker, a family provider, and always told him “If you do good, good will always follow you.”
Once upon a time, Earl had a dream that he was the lead singer of Earth, Wind, and Fire. He’d make a great front man.
