The shoe distribution kick-off for the 13th Annual Day Without Shoes Shoe Drive will happen Thursday, April 27 at People’s City Mission Help Center (6800 P St.).

Since 2011, Cornhusker Bank and People’s City Mission have partnered to help raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a person’s life by hosting a Day Without Shoes event annually. The public has been encouraged to bring new or used shoes, or cash donations to help put good shoes on the feet of Lincoln’s less fortunate. Since its inception, members of Lincoln, Omaha and the surrounding communities have collected over 235,000 pairs of shoes and monetary donations totaling over $102,000!

During the event this Thursday, Cornhusker Bank will present a check to People’s City Mission, followed by a press conference. Then PCM guests will be able to choose shoes for themselves and their families. The remainder of the shoes collected will be distributed over the next several weeks to needy families who are served at the Help Center. Please refer to the following schedule for the day:

We are so incredibly thankful for Cornhusker Bank’s dedication to this drive every year. Thousands of folks in Lincoln will be helped because of all of the shoes and money collected this year. Thank you for your kindness to the homeless and impoverished. – Pastor Tom Barber
