FEATURE ARTICLE:

When Carolyn arrived at the People’s City Mission in late September 2024, she was facing one of the most difficult seasons of her life. After a series of events that led to job and housing loss, she was separated from her children and came to Lincoln with nowhere else to turn. She was anxious and fearful, having had negative experiences with shelters in the past.
But from the moment she walked through our doors, she felt something different. Jonathan, her case manager, welcomed her with compassion—not judgment—and helped her set goals, find employment, and connect with vital services like therapy and housing assistance. Thanks to her hard work and the support she received at the Mission, Carolyn was reunited with her children just before Christmas.
We have really good news to share about Carolyn and her kids. They have moved into their own home, and she is able to support her little family with a good job. She’s now planning for the future with renewed hope, grateful for the healing and growth she experienced during her time with us.
We want you to know that our doors always have been, and always will be open to care for the homeless and impoverished in our city. Even when food and energy costs have continued to rise, we have not reduced our services. And we are hoping you can assist us in keeping this going, especially now as we are in the beginning stages of a building plan that will provide desperately needed space and facilities to continue serving those in need.
Will you help to make Mother’s Day special for a mom experiencing homelessness? Any financial gift will be much appreciated. They need your support now more than ever. We also ask for your prayers for the painful reminders this holiday can bring for many here at PCM and in our city.
God’s rich blessings to you,
Pastor Tom
